I have been living in the Grande Prairie area for more than 20 years, living in the Hythe area, and eventually Grande Prairie where I met my husband and partner of more than 10 years, Daniel. We have a young son; his birth and my postpartum period inspired me to pursue a career as a postpartum doula. Living in Grande Prairie with a newborn is a unique experience compared to larger centers, and it shocked me how shut-in many new parents feel. Especially in the winter, or when a spouse is working an especially long hitch. It can be quite a shock, and then disappointing to be left without resources or someone to talk to. Because of this I am currently certifying through Childbirth International (CBI), and afterwards I look forward to expanding my education since learning is a passion of mine. I am also trained in standard first aid with child and infant CPR, and AED.
Did you know that Grande Prairie is one of the sunniest cities in Canada? I love spending time outside in the sunshine, either watching my son play, or tending my vegetable garden. I have several hobbies and interests, including crochet, sending postcards and snail mail, reading, swimming, and adventuring! If you see me about town I could be grocery shopping, but most likely my son and I are on an adventure!
