What is a Postpartum Doula?
A Postpartum doula provides emotional and physical support for her clients after labour and birth. What that looks like is really up to you! Here are a few ways I can help:
A Postpartum Doula can help families transition to a new normal with continuous emotional support. It is paramount to have someone to help all family members adjust to the new normal. I can help you debrief your labour and birth, troubleshoot problems that escalate stress, and find mental help resources. I am also available extended hours in case you need to talk.
Help single mothers, teen parents, and mothers whose partners are away working. Having someone experienced come in can help the new family to grow, bond and reduce stress in these critical first weeks.
Provide evidence based care and information to suit your needs. This can be helping you find resources in the city, navigate health conditions with you, education on infant care, breastfeeding troubleshooting and more!
Help and education after adoption placement.
Physical work such as: help with light housework and food preparations, errands or simply holding the baby while you take a much needed nap.
Every family is unique, so the role of the doula truly transforms for every client.
